Anti-tumor Effects and Induction of Apoptosis by Realgar Bioleaching Solution in Sarcoma-180 Cells in Vitro and in Vivo

چکیده
TCMs Realgar (also named “Xiong-Huang” in Chinese) is the ore of sulfide mineral Realgar, which consists of a series of arsenic-containing metal sulfides (AS4S4) (Xuemin, 2000; National Pharmacopoeia Committee 2004). Pure realgar is an orange-red crystalline mineral. The spatial structure of realgar is analogous to that of sulfur (S8), in which 4 arsenic atoms regularly replace 4 of the 8 sulfur atoms to form a similar ring, but the monoclinic crystal structure of realgar is different from the orthorhombic symmetry of sulfur. Realgar is soft and sectile; and usually occurs in granular, compact, or powder form. Considerable documents and clinical observations have established that arsenic-related medication can produce potent anti-cancer effects possibly by inducing cell apoptosis (Daopei et al., 1998; Mengchang et al., 2002; Xiaoou, 2006). Arsenicals have been known as toxins and paradoxically as therapeutic agents. In the 1970s, Chinese physicians revived the medicinal use of arsenicals as anticancer agents. Distinguished success was observed in the treatment of acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) with arsenic trioxide (ATO). The FDA approved ATO injection in the year 2000 for the treatment

متن کاملAnticancer Properties of Chrysin on Colon Cancer Cells, In vitro and In vivo with Modulation of Caspase-3, -9, Bax and Sall4
Background: The SALL4/Sall4 is constitutively expressed in human and mice. SALL4 mRNA could be used as a marker for the diagnosis of different types of cancers. On the other hand, chrysin has diverse biological properties. Objectives: In the present study, the effect of the chrysin was investigated on the CT26 colon cancer in vitro and in vivo. Furthermore, the expression levels of the stem cel...
متن کاملThe anti-tumor efficacy of nanoparticulate form of ICD-85 versus free form
Biodegradable polymeric nanoparticles (NPs) have been intensively studied as a possible way to enhance anti-tumor efficacy while reducing side effects. ICD-85, derived from the venom of two separate species of venomous animals, has been shown to exhibit anti-cancer activity. In this report polymer based sodium alginate nanoparticles of ICD-85 was used to enhance its therapeutic effects and redu...
متن کاملSupernatant Metabolites from Halophilic Archaea to Reduce Tumorigenesis in Prostate Cancer In-vitro and In-vivo
Halophilic archaea are known as the novel producers of natural products and their supernatant metabolites could have cytotoxic effects on cancer cells. In the present study, we screened the anticancer potential of supernatant metabolites from eight native haloarchaeal strains obtained from a culture collection in Iran. Five human cancer cell lines including breast, lung, prostate and also human...
